OSP started in early 2003 as a small group of people, interested in live theatre, met and discussed the possibility of forming a group to produce plays in a dinner theatre setting. While many who are involved with Off Stage have the “smell of greasepaint” in their blood, some are interested in maybe one aspect of theatre. But all who are involved enjoy the experiences of creating an evening of entertainment for others.
Off Stage Productions, Inc. (OSP) is organized as an Ohio non profit corporation and is approved by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. We provide two dinner theatre productions per season, one in the fall and one in the spring. We generally have 5 performances per show with an average attendance of 325 for each play. Currently we present our shows at the Van Wert Senior Center 220 Fox Rd in Van Wert, Ohio, with catering provided by Grants Catering. We are also doing an annual Christmas production called “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson. The show includes a large number of children and is a great way to introduce young people to live theatre, and of course it's also a great Christmas message.
OSP has grown years and now has over 50 members and over 600 names on the mailing list in over 80 zip codes. We have an growing inventory of set and stage pieces that allow us to transform the Van Wert Armory into an inviting setting for our dinner theatre. Through the generosity of members and Patrons, we were able to purchase chairs and tables.
We are most proud, however, that we are giving our Patrons a quality live theatre performance in a relaxing and comfortable setting at a very reasonable price. At the same time, we are able to provide a creative outlet to people who love to be involved in the production of a live play.
